How it began!

Summer of 2006. I had just turned 16 and was having the best summer. Went to church camp (a last minute decision) at Piney Wood church camp. Little did I know that last minute decision would be the start to my future. That week I met the love of my life. A boy a year younger from another small town close by! We spent the whole week together and decided we didn’t want to stop hanging out. So we stayed together for 5 years before we decided to get married. A year and a half into our marriage we got pregnant with our first son. Landon. We spent almost three years just the three of us. Then we fell pregnant with what we thought would be our last baby. A beautiful little girl, Madison. Everything was going alright with her pregnancy until 21 weeks. I had developed severe preeclampsia and had to be hospitalized. We managed to make it till 23 weeks and 3 days when she was delivered. Thanks to inter uterine growth restriction she was only developed to 20 weeks. The doctors were able to intubate her but on her third day of life she developed a brain bleed. We woke up that morning to the doctors saying,” we can keep her comfortable but she will be a vegetable. Or if you would like to hold her and say your good byes”. We couldn’t make her live on machines not knowing if she was hurting or scared so we made the toughest decision a parent will ever make. We baptized her and said our good byes. Holding my little 1lb baby girl to my chest as she took her last breaths with remain with me forever. But I knew I was supposed to have more kids. So after waiting exactly one year we got pregnant! I knew something was off when we had only been trying two weeks and I was taking long naps and raw potatoes made me nauseous. So I took a test and sure enough it was positive. The line was very faint so I knew we were early. Two weeks later we went in for an early ultrasound per doctors orders and saw two gestational sacs. Went back two weeks later and saw that in the two sacs were babies with heart beats! We were having rainbow twin babies! They grew and grew. At 16 weeks we found out they were boys and decided on Lucas and Nicholas (Luke and Nick). Their pregnancy was perfect and I managed to make it to 36 weeks and 5 days before they were delivered. When the boys were 7 months old I developed shingles. I was still breastfeeding them so I was put on steroids to try to heal faster. Little did we know that choice would bring about another pregnancy. Boys we about to turn 8 months and I had to go to the doctor to get looked at. Of course they wanted to give me a pregnancy test. I took it thinking it would definitely be negative. Well as fate would have it is was very positive. So thinking it was only one baby (as I hadn’t had any symptoms) everything would be ok. Three weeks later I went in for the first ultrasound. And we discovered two gestational sacs with two babies with heartbeats! We were scared but knew we could do it. At 17 weeks we found out they were boy and girl twins! Our Dean and Rylee! Their pregnancy was very hard on my but thankfully uneventful. Made it to 35 weeks and 5 before my body couldn’t handle being pregnant anymore. Our double pot of gold babies.
